Back at work again

2006-08-02 11:25:00 by Kjell-Åke Gafvelin

Now I am finally back to work and blogging again. While we where building the new "out-door room" (will post pictures soon) I didn't have that much extra time to spend on my projects and I also had some vacation that I decided to be computer-free (almost).

This week and next week I will be working fulltime and after that I will only be working halftime for a year, the rest of the time I will spend at home taking care of our son while my fiancee goes back to her job as a teacher.

Hopefully this will mean that I will get some more time to spend on my projects while our little rascal is asleep or playing by himself.

Future for MSMQ Studio

2006-08-02 11:34:32 by Kjell-Åke Gafvelin

The next version of MSMQ Studio will be delayed due to some changes I made in the application which will take some time to finish. My original plan was to release before the summer, but due to lack of time I haven't been able to do that.

Some of the new things that I am working/thinking on are:

  • A tabbed interface to allow a better overview of the queues
  • Different versions like Free/Pro/Supa Dupa Expert...
  • Better XML support
  • Better language support
  • MSMQ administration functionality
  • Performance testing MSMQ

Future for Typed Collection Wizard

2006-08-02 11:35:35 by Kjell-Åke Gafvelin

For Typed Collection Wizard I haven't really decided on what to do since I do not use Visual Studio 2003 anymore myself. I have plans on upgrading it to a "real" add-in for Visual Studio 2005, but I don't know if it is worth the effort since you have generics in .Net 2.0 which reduces the need for creating custom collections. Although it has been downloaded more than 600 times, but I haven't received any feedback on it so far.

Comments and trackback

2006-08-07 13:25:48 by Kjell-Åke Gafvelin

I discovered today the comments and trackback service from Haloscan via Eric Sink's blog and signed up immediately.

Otherwise I would have had to migrate my blog to some other software which I then had to integrate into my site and this I definitely do not have any time for. With Haloscan's service it took me 10 minutes from signing up to have it deployed on the site!

Classic motorcycle race

2006-08-09 22:31:06 by Kjell-Åke Gafvelin

This sunday I went to Linköping with my son and father to watch the classic motorcycle race '41-årsracet'. It was very fun to all these old motorcycles race. But my primary interest was too watch the SuperMono-race as I am thinking of converting my Aprilia RS 250 into a SuperMono-motorcycle. But we'll have to see what happens with that.

Here are some pictures of some of the bikes we saw at the race.

MSMQ Studio 0.7 is here!

2006-08-15 16:12:24 by Kjell-Åke Gafvelin

I decided to release version 0.7 of MSMQ Studio today. One of the things which is new in this release is that it is now only possible to use it until the 1st of October 2006, after that it will not be possible to start it.

Unfortunately I was not able to update the info regarding this release on the tools page due to some problems with updating the database, but if you try to download MSMQ Studio from there you will get the correct version.

UPDATE: The tools page is now updated!

What's in 0.7.0

  • Fixed XML viewer so it displays XML correct.
  • It is now possible to "reply" to a message if the response queue is set.
  • Forward a message to another queue (at the moment it is just the body which is forwarded).
  • Purge a queue.
  • Settings are saved per user.
  • Minor bugfixes and other enhancements.
